Starting out on Instagram? Our top tips…
If we were to start fresh on Instagram with a new account, here’s what we would do;
Focus on creating a strong bio: Your bio should be optimised for search so when your ideal client is looking for a business like yours, that you show up in their results. Create a strong bio by explaining in simple terms what you do, and who you serve. Avoid jargon and acronyms. Include a call to action - what do you want them to do? Call now/visit our website/shop online? Lastly, make sure your contact details are updated and correct.
Your first 3 posts should be;
An Intro: Who are you? Bonus if you show the face, or team, behind the business.
What You Do: Explain your products or services.
Your “why”: Show the problem that you and your product/service solve for your ideal client.
Create a content plan: Be realistic and decide how often you can post and then outline the first few weeks or month of content. If you can, create this content in advance and schedule it out.
Prioritise video content: Reels are key for reaching an audience. Record in a 9:16 aspect ratio. Don’t overthink it, don’t worry about perfection. Just start recording and start posting.
Show Up: Show up on stories 4-5 times a week. Let your audience get to know you. Share your day, share your workspace, your business and introduce yourself. People buy from people.
Be Social: Most important tip - be social! Instagram is a social media platform. Follow brands that inspire you and follow your competitors. Comment, say hello, sprinkle some love. Respond to your followers comments and messages.
Lastly, don’t take it too seriously. Instagram should be part of a marketing strategy, but not THE marketing strategy. Have fun with it, let loose and don’t get hung up on the numbers.
